"Surely the Lord GOD does nothing unless He reveals His secret counsel to His servants the prophets." - Amos 3:7 In today's devotion, we find ourselves reflecting upon the distinctive times and seasons that unfold around us, particularly in the wake of yesterday's total eclipse of the sun. This celestial event has ignited a flurry of proclamations from various individuals claiming prophetic insight into future events and the end times. Amidst the cacophony of voices, the term "prophet" has unfortunately been tinged with skepticism, now often associated with the outlandish or the discredited—a term some might whimsically dub as "loonousy." Despite this contemporary backdrop, it's essential to remember the venerable lineage of true prophets ordained by God, figures of profound spiritual authority like Moses, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Isaiah, Micah, and Amos, who spoke with God's mandate across the epochs of history. Our focal point in this contemplation draws us to Amos, a minor prophet, who served the Northern Kingdom of Israel during the reign of Jeroboam II in the 8th century BCE. Amos's era was marked not by the content of his prophecies alone but by a profound statement that resonates through the tapestry of scriptural narrative: "Surely the Lord GOD does nothing unless He reveals His secret counsel to His servants the prophets" (Amos 3:7). This declaration underlines a consistent divine principle; God does not execute judgment upon a nation or people without offering ample warning through His appointed messengers. The scriptures provide ample precedent for this principle. For instance, in Deuteronomy 18:18-19, God promises to raise up a prophet who will speak His commands to the people, holding them accountable for heeding these divine messages. Jeremiah 1:5 highlights the preordained nature of prophets, chosen before birth to carry forth God's word to the nations. Numbers 12:6 reveals the intimate manner in which God communicates with His prophets, through visions and dreams, underscoring the personal relationship between the divine and His chosen messengers. This thread of divine communication and revelation through prophets culminates in the New Testament, as seen in Hebrews 1:1-2, where God, after speaking through the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, Jesus Christ. This does not negate the role of prophets in the New Testament era, as evidenced by the inclusion of prophets within the fivefold ministry of the church, highlighting their continued importance in God's plan. The purpose of today's devotion is multifaceted. Firstly, it aims to dispel the misconceptions surrounding the role of prophets, often mistaken for mere eccentrics due to the claims of numerous self-proclaimed prophets. Secondly, it seeks to underscore the significance of true prophets within the fivefold ministry, emphasizing their divine commission. Thirdly, it brings attention to the challenge posed by false prophets who, despite their public prominence, offer interpretations that lack the depth and authenticity of true prophetic insight. Fourthly, it encourages vigilance and discernment regarding the times and seasons we live in, urging a mindful observance of God's movements and warnings. Lastly, it reassures us that divine judgment will not befall us unannounced, as God commits to revealing His plans through His prophets before acting. One poignant scriptural illustration of this is found in Ezekiel 2:3-7, where God sends Ezekiel to a rebellious Israel, not with the expectation of repentance, but as a testament that a prophet was among them before judgment. This underlines the mercy inherent in God's warnings, ensuring none can claim ignorance of His impending judgments. In reflecting on the end times, many have turned to apocalyptic narratives, interpreting contemporary events as immediate precursors to Christ's return. However, a thorough examination of scriptural prophecies, both from the Old and New Testaments, reveals that certain events and developments precede such a culmination. This includes the restoration of the fivefold ministry, specific warnings by divinely appointed prophets, and a unification of the Body of Christ akin to the unity experienced at Pentecost. Additionally, the prophetic call to "Come out of her my people" to a city restored on the hill, and the preparation of the Bride of Christ for a return devoid of spot or blemish are crucial milestones. Yet, amidst our anticipation and vigilance, we recall Jesus's rebuke to the Pharisees and Sadducees in Matthew 16:1-3 for their obsession with signs, highlighting the importance of discerning the "signs of the times" without falling into the trap of seeking spectacular omens. Our focus should remain on the spiritual readiness and unity that precede the Lord's return, ensuring we are prepared for the fulfillment of God's promises. As we navigate these times, let us remain attentive to the genuine voices of God's prophets, discerning the truth amidst a sea of misinformation, and preparing ourselves for the days to come, fortified by the assurance that God reveals His plans to His servants, ensuring that we, His people, are never caught unawares. Prayer Heavenly Father, We come before you today with hearts full of gratitude, acknowledging your boundless mercy towards us. Despite our unworthiness, you, in your infinite love and kindness, extend to us warnings and opportunities for repentance before any form of punishment is considered. Your scripture reminds us time and again of your reluctance to punish us as we deserve, for your deepest desire is for all to find salvation and return to you. Lord, we beseech you for the wisdom to recognize and heed the warnings you graciously provide. Open our eyes and ears, that we may be alert to your divine signals and promptings. Help us to discern the moments when we should seek your forgiveness, guiding us back to you with repentant hearts. We are humbled, Father, by the privilege to serve as your temples on earth, housing your Spirit within us. This honor compels us to strive towards purity and sanctity, acknowledging the blemishes that mar your sacred dwelling within us. We are grateful for the tools and guidance you provide to cleanse ourselves, aiming to reflect your image more clearly with each passing day. Our deepest longing is to mirror your purity and holiness, to become beacons of your light in a world that desperately needs it. We commit ourselves to this journey of sanctification, trusting in your grace and mercy to transform us. In your Holy name, we offer this prayer. Amen. 🌟 Enjoyed this read? Share the Blessing! 🌟

The Mission: In these devotionals, I seek not to preach, but to share a journey of faith, guided by God's wisdom. My aim is not to impart my own wisdom, but to serve as a conduit for the divine messages that resonate through the scriptures. The Process: Prayerful Beginnings: Each day starts with a prayer, an open-hearted conversation with God, seeking guidance on the message to be shared. Scripture Selection: Since there is no bad verse in the Bible, a verse of scripture is randomly chosen. Or if I feel a heavy drawing to a specific topic I search the Word for the appropriate verse that deals with that topic. Contextual Understanding: I delve into the rich background of the chosen verse, exploring who spoke these words, to whom they were addressed, and what was the underlying message. This contextual study is deepened by examining why the message was delivered, uncovering the intent and the circumstances that inspired these words. Equally important is how the message was communicated, whether through parables, direct teachings, or poetic expressions, revealing the method behind the scripture's enduring impact. This comprehensive exploration helps in grasping the broader meaning, connecting us more deeply with the divine wisdom embedded in each verse. Reflective Mediation: Armed with knowledge and guided by prayer, I reflect on the verse. This reflection is not just an intellectual exercise but a spiritual experience, seeking to understand how this verse speaks to different hearts in different ways. Diverse Messages: The devotionals are crafted to resonate with a wide array of believers - from those new to faith to those who have walked with God for years. Each message is intended to touch hearts, whether as a gentle reminder, a spark of realization, or a comforting assurance. Humble Servitude: Above all, I recognize that these messages are not of my own making. I am but a mere instrument in God's hands, tasked with documenting and sharing His word. My role is that of a documentarian, capturing the divine insights revealed through me. The Belief: "If you have ears, you will hear; if you have eyes, you will see." These words of Jesus Christ guide these devotionals. I understand that not all messages are for all moments, but each is crafted with the hope that it will find those who need it most at the right time. Growing up in Florida as the eldest of five in a devout Christian family, my life was deeply rooted in the church. Baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit in my teens, I attended the church's private school until high school graduation in 2000. However, post-graduation, I drifted from the church and lived without serving God for 22 years. Despite this distance, my belief in God never waned. In 2009, I married, and we're blessed with two sons. My spiritual awakening began in 2023. Despite trying to manage a financial crisis on my own, it was an answered prayer that reignited my faith. Desperately needing a specific amount of money, I prayed for divine intervention after all attempts failed. Miraculously, a veteran organization unexpectedly granted me the exact amount I needed without repayment. This was no coincidence – it was a clear answer from God. This experience revitalized my faith. While I'm still discerning God's plan for me, I've chosen to use my media talents to serve Him. |
